Gelato, the software company that has built the world’s largest network for production on demand, is committed to investing in providing world-class security and compliance to customers and partners. The team is excited to announce its next step on this journey - its ISO/IEC 27001 certification achievement.
“When you partner with Gelato, you will have the peace of mind that your data is protected by a certified, world-class information security management system.” says Oliver Ridley, Chief Technology Officer at Gelato. “Knowing that Gelato has you protected is an assurance both to your company, and to your end-customers, allowing you to focus on scaling your business,” says Ridley.
From 2021-2022 individual data breaches increased by 44 percent, according to the Identity Theft Research Center, a trend that also affects global ecommerce sellers and their need for technology partnerships that demand the highest standards in data privacy and security.
"Security is not just a check box for Gelato. It is critical for any global company to scale in a safe and effective way, and we want to extend this level of security, trust and peace of mind to our customers. This certification offers an additional layer of confidence that reaffirms the excellence, comprehensiveness, and robustness of our technology," says Ridley.
The ISO has published more than 22,000 standards that apply to everything from health and safety to food management and sustainable development, giving businesses in a wide range of sectors a standard they can adhere to as they work towards consistent quality for their technology and practices. The ISO/IEC 27000 family of standards concerns best practices for managing secure data, such as financial information, intellectual property, or other information entrusted to a business by third parties.
ISO-certified businesses have to go through a stringent assessment that involves rigorous testing and inspections by a third party group. While many companies still adhere to the 2013 validation, Gelato’s certification is for the 2022 version, which sets it apart from many other players in the ecommerce industry. The extensive audit process was performed by EY CertifyPoint whose other clients include tech giants like Google, Amazon, Salesforce and more.
